Launching A New Sales Channel

Re-creating the in-store experience with live stream is an exciting & entirely new way for stores to do business. And it’s effectively a 3rd channel for retailers, beyond traditional in-store shopping or e-commerce.

That’s why we’ve put together this quick “Behind The Scenes” story from Moncler, to give you an idea of what to do & what to expect in advance of your first live streams at your store or corporate office.

So whether you are just interested or already making plans to launch this exciting new channel, this success story from Moncler has got you covered.

“I had a great experience with VISX from start to finish”

Location, Location, Location

To successfully prepare for your first live stream, there are some important aspects to cover, such as:
  • Finding good lighting within the store
  • Identifying a clean / “not busy background”
  • Getting comfortable in front of the camera
  • Understanding how to use the VISX technology

Most stores have never hosted a live stream before, so a critical piece to this is the location you select. I.e., one with good lighting, a clean background and that allows you to be comfortable in front of the camera. Beyond that, it’s important to test “going live” with VISX & having a host experience the VISX technology. In particular, using the co-host function to switch through products to display, as well as responding to customer chats. We know the above is new to you & your team – that is why Omnyway’s Customer Success will be there to help you through every step of the way. And once you’ve practiced with us, you will feel like a Pro!

Live Stream Logistics

After you have identified a good location for your live stream & have practiced “going live”, it’s time to start discussing the logistics of your live stream.

Now every retailer is different, but in order to sell & keep shopper attention, it is important to keep your live stream to about 25 minutes and also brainstorm a nice flow for how you will deliver the experience. This can be done by one individual, however, in the photo above you will see that multiple people are involved. You will also notice that this store has clearly thought out different components to its live stream.

Promoting Your Event & Securing RSVPs

The final step to take in advance of hosting your first live stream is marketing the event across multiple channels so that attendees show up & want to buy your merchandise!
One really nice benefit to Omnyway’s VISX service is that the links to your live stream events support an RSVP feature. So as a best practice, we recommend creating your live event & sending it to shoppers about one week in advance. When they click the link, they can RSVP, “Save The Date” and receive automated email reminders 4 days, 1 day, 1 hour & 10 minutes before your event starts! That way they don’t miss out & you can drive attendance.
